Unforgettable DJs has been a client of Splendor for over 10 years. We created a website design for them in 2005. The original web design won a prestigious GOLD W3 award, and really broke the mould. In 2012, owner Chris Garrow wanted a new website created to reflect the news, updates, reviews, new service offerings, and the evolution of the company. And as usual, Chris wanted something to reflect how unique and distinct his business is.
What we created and launched in Feb 2013 is original, innovative and ground-breaking. This new website features a powerful and comprehensive Content Management System (CMS) based on the WordPress platform. But different than the typical WordPress template-based sites, the structure, format and visual design of the UFDJ website is a based on a series of pop-up windows that expand and shrink as you navigate around the site.
The first impression of this web design is the beautiful and elegant visual functionality, clean design and modern, sleek appearance. Equally important, however, is the CMS driving the site, and some of the really creative, technical aspects of the website from a programming standpoint.
Tech Talk
We used a programming language called jQuery to reveal and hide the various pages of the website in pop-up or “modal” windows. These windows appear in the foreground while the main screen remains in the background. This makes for a very easy user interface and a positive user experience.
Given the current landscape of small business marketing and the role of search engines in new business development, we knew we needed this website and all of its pages to be search engine friendly, and “indexable” by Google.com. The solution we created was a very innovative approach that actually treats each modal window as an individual page, complete with its own meta data, such as Title, Description and Keyword list, as well as a distinct page address (URL).
This combination of tech-forward, visually appealing and SEO friendly methods resulted in a truly one-of-a-kind website for a one-of-a-kind business.
